First half of 2026: almost every second imported car came from the US
In the first half of 2026, Ukraine imported 169.1 thousand passenger cars with a total value of almost UAH 96.6 billion, according to the State Customs Service.
Where they come from
USA — 73.2 thousand cars (43%);
Germany — 17.3 thousand (10%);
Poland — 14.6 thousand (9%).
More than 70% of the imported cars are used. Petrol cars account for 54.5% of imports, diesel for 20.3%, electric cars for 13% and hybrids for 12.1%.
What it means
The US remains the main source of cars for the Ukrainian market, well ahead of Europe. Demand for imports to order is holding, and with it the need for working capital to buy lots and pay for delivery and customs clearance. Customs payments on imported passenger cars brought the budget UAH 32.1 billion over the half-year.
